Why use tapes?
Tapes are by far the most widely used method to backup company data to external media. The average company has the requirements to backup a minimum of 100GB of data per day.
Using tape backups gives your business the option to archive daily, weekly, monthly and even yearly tapes offsite. This way you can have the piece of mind that in the event of a disaster you have a reliable recovery plan.

Tape backup methods
The most common rotation methods are manual rotation and GFS rotation (Grand father, Father, Son).
GFS simplifies tape handling by organizing rotation into daily, weekly, and monthly backup tapes for you. The backup software such as Arcserver or Backup Exec will give assign each tape the correct write expiry date depending on the day, week and month which prevents the accidental overwrite of media.
Sphere IT can offer backup solutions to suit the requirements of any business.
